Frequently Asked Questions
What is Dolby Atmos?
Dolby Atmos is an immersive audio format that allows music to be experienced in three-dimensional space. Instead of all sounds being placed between two speakers, elements can be positioned around the listener to create a more spacious and engaging listening experience.
Why should I release in Dolby Atmos?
Releasing in Dolby Atmos allows your music to be available in the immersive format supported by major streaming platforms, giving listeners another way to experience your work.
There can also be practical benefits. Some streaming services apply different royalty calculations for Atmos streams, and certain editorial teams and playlists actively support immersive releases. While Atmos doesn't guarantee additional streams or playlist placements, releasing in the format may create opportunities that aren't available with a stereo-only release.
Your original stereo master remains unchanged, so Atmos can be offered as an additional listening format alongside your standard release.
Do I need to give you an Atmos mix to begin with?
No. I can create an Atmos version directly from your existing mix stems. If anything additional is needed, I'll let you know before we begin.
What files do you need?
All I need is your mixed stems. Ideally as separated as your project allows, but don’t overthink this - most standard stem exports are fine, and I can advise if anything needs splitting differently. Just make sure that when you drop them into an empty session, they play back sounding identical to your mix.
Will the vibe of my mix change too much?
One thing I feel strongly about is that an Atmos version should still feel like your song. My priority is keeping the Atmos version true to the original mix and creative intent, translating it into an immersive format without changing its core identity.
